Competitiveness and attractiveness

Linking and coordinating the actors of innovation in the media and networks fields, the Images et Réseaux cluster drives development campaigns in the sector as well as a sustained futurological effort, targeting emerging markets.

The Images et Réseaux cluster's main goal is to create synergies from the expertise and skills of manufacturers and researchers in the media and networks fields in order to give new impetus to innovation.

This pooling of energies is aimed at two objectives, both generating trade and employment:

  • Increasing the competitiveness of the players in the media and networks sectors in Brittany and Pays de la Loire regions.
  • Boosting the attractiveness of the regions so as to bring other players into this dynamic and encourage them to locate their activities in the area.

Imagine 2015: A futurology study program calling upon personalities outside the world of Images et Réseaux cluster

 

Digital technologies and high-speed connections have become part of everyday life and deeply changed our relationship with all kinds of information. The means of consumption of audiovisual content are changing and with them the behaviour of users. This revolution through use has an impact on the whole chain, from content production to distribution networks, and beyond to economic models.

Images et Réseaux cluster endeavors to anticipate what the future uses of technologies will be, by taking advantage of sociological and futurological methodology in order to comprehend new markets. The technological progress that must be made then comes from forecast expectations in terms of use.
 


When it was created in 2005, the Images et Réseaux cluster set its priorities for action, and the initial results can now be observed:

  • Building a base of collaborative projects. Innovation is born from cooperation between manufacturers and scientists involved in research and development projects. At the end of 2009, the cluster had compiled more than 100 projects with the Images et Réseaux label that had obtained funding (see Projects financed).
  • Access to test and experimentation platforms. In the context of a network of services, having access to platforms for the testing of new technology and the experimentation of new uses is a crucial competitive advantage. The Cluster is working to set up a regional platform and to connect with equivalent platforms in other countries (see Platforms).
  • International influence. Gains in the competitiveness of the actors and in the attractiveness of the area can only be achieved by ensuring that the Images et Réseaux cluster is visible on the international stage. Therefore, a series of actions has been undertaken to enter into cooperation agreements and to commit to international projects (see International).

 


With a keen focus on future markets, the Images et Réseaux cluster has embarked upon a decidedly original strategy, known as Imagine 2015. Its concept: to listen to the world so as to understand society's future needs. Its method: to invite personalities from outside the microcosm of Media & Networks to engage in discussion at a seminar, followed by workshops. These personalities, or Expert Guests, are people who, due to their in-depth knowledge of their disciplines, will enable us to consider innovation from other angles.
